John W. Carlson is chief of staff of the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and the vice chairman of the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC).
Prior to joining the FS-ISAC, Carlson served as the Executive Vice President of BITS, the technology and policy division of the Financial Services Roundtable. At BITS, Carlson led cybersecurity, technology risk and collaboration programs for 12 years. Carlson served in a variety of leadership roles as a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley’s Operational Risk Department in (2010-11), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (1993-2002), U.S. Office of Management and Budget (1990-93), Federal Reserve Bank of Boston (1988-90), and United Nations Center for Human Settlements (1986).
Carlson holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1988) and a B.A. from the University of Maryland (1985), where he served on the Board of Regents. While at College Park, John lived in Easton dorm for two years, represented the Denton community in the SGA, served as a Legal Aid advisor, participated in ODK, studied in the English honors program, played intramural basketball, and enjoyed the diversity of people and broad range of cultural opportunities.
